Turn 5 of 23
Order something huge for dinner, she's earned it. The slob behavior turns her on. After dealing with it, she checks her email to see if the promotion triggers any new requirements. Nope, there is nothing. In fact, with the promotion comes more freedom and less supervision. She is free to work from home 100% of the time now.
Lena drops onto the couch with her phone and opens the delivery app with the practiced speed of someone who has memorized the menu rotation. Tonight she skips the usual places and goes straight to the Italian restaurant across town — the one with the family-sized portions. She adds a tray of baked ziti, a large margherita pizza, an order of garlic knots, a Caesar salad she knows she won't eat, a tiramisu, a cannoli, and a two-liter of Sprite. The total makes her snort. She hits confirm, leans back, and rests both hands on her belly while she waits. The soft dome rises and falls under her palms. A deep, rolling belch surfaces from somewhere low in her chest and she lets it fill the apartment, loud and unbothered, and the warmth that follows it isn't just digestive. She presses her thighs together and feels a pulse of heat move through her, sharp and electric. Her body is doing exactly what it wants. She is doing exactly what she wants. The two things are the same thing now, and that thought alone is enough to make her skin prickle.
When the food arrives, she eats the way she has learned to eat over two weeks — sprawled on the couch, naked, container in her lap, sauce on her fingers. The ziti is enormous and she works through half of it before the first real pressure builds in her gut. She lifts one hip and lets a long, low fart push into the cushion, and the vibration of it travels through her belly and thighs and settles somewhere warm between her legs. She takes another bite. The garlic knots are gone in minutes. She tears into the pizza with her hands, grease running down her wrist, and between slices she belches so hard her breasts shake. She doesn't wipe her mouth. She doesn't slow down. The slobbery of it — the grease, the gas, the nakedness, the absolute refusal to perform anything resembling composure — thrums through her like a second heartbeat, and she lets it.
The cannoli is the last thing she eats. She scrapes the cream with her finger and licks it clean, then sits back with the full, taut weight of her belly pressing outward against nothing — no waistband, no shirt, no constraint at all. She is warm and full and slightly dizzy and completely, stupidly satisfied. She farts again, long and slow, and laughs at the sound of it echoing off the coffee table. Then she reaches for the laptop.
The promotion email is still sitting at the top of her inbox, and below it a second message arrived an hour ago from HR — onboarding details for the senior analyst role. She opens it expecting a mandate, a catch, a return-to-office clause buried in the fine print. She reads it twice. There is nothing. The new role is fully remote. No quarterly office visits. no in-person check-ins, no camera-on meetings. Her manager has noted in a follow-up email that senior analysts are trusted to manage their own schedules and deliverables with minimal oversight. She has more freedom now than she had as a junior, not less. The apartment, the couch, the nakedness, the delivery apps, the gas, the grease — all of it is sustainable indefinitely. Nobody is going to come knocking.
She closes the laptop and sets it on the coffee table. The apartment is dark except for the kitchen light and the glow of the TV. She is full, sticky, unwashed, and alone, and the wish is still warm in the center of her. She stretches out on the couch, one hand on her belly, and feels a deep, contented pressure build and release — one more long fart into the cushion. She smiles. She doesn't have to go anywhere. She doesn't have to be seen. She doesn't have to be anything other than exactly what she is right now, and what she is right now is comfortable in a way that fills her completely.
