What’s new

What has changed on Everbranch, newest first.

See the prompt before it goes, suggestions you can edit, and a clearer Regenerate

  • A tick under the play box: show me what the writer gets before it goes. Turn it on and Send opens a preview of everything the writer is about to receive, and you can change any of it for that one turn.
  • Tapping a suggested move now puts it in the box so you can edit it. Tap it again, or press Send, to send it. Thanks to a player who finds typing hard for the idea.
  • The Regenerate turn button moved next to Stats, with a label, and it visibly rewrites the same turn rather than adding one.
  • Stats shows the pacing the writer was given, in full, and any edits you made to the prompt.
  • A little more room between a turn being written and the suggestions under it.
  • Credits given to you by us now say why, in your notifications.

Half-price GLM for Premium, more picture styles, sharper covers

  • Premium members now play GLM 5.2, the default writer, for 5 credits a turn instead of 10.
  • Your own OpenRouter key now covers seed covers, branch covers and character portraits as well as turns and turn pictures.
  • Seven new picture styles: Epic fantasy, Fantasy portrait, Dark fantasy, Glamour, Low-key moody, Pin-up and Neon glow.
  • Creator pages show five seeds a row with sharper covers.
  • Dictation stops the moment you press Send, so nothing said afterwards ends up in the box.
  • A bit of room above the buttons in the export window.
  • The privacy page now explains the Google Ads tag we use to see whether an advert brought you here. Still no advertising cookies.

Your own API key, a new creator page and a deeper dark mode

  • Premium members can play on their own OpenRouter key. Set it up under Settings, Own API key. Up to 200 turns a day cost no credits.
  • Creator pages are a shelf of covers now, with Seeds and Branches as tabs.
  • Dark mode is darker, with cards that stand out from the page.
  • Settings is split into Profile, Notifications, Account and Own API key.
  • Export a branch from the menu on My branches: pick the turns, add pictures, and get a PDF, an EPUB or a text file. Unfinished branches can be exported too.
  • You can dictate your move with the microphone button next to Send (Chrome, Edge and Safari).
  • Speech in a story is shown in italics.
  • The picture suggestion for a turn now describes how the character looks at that point in the story, not how they started.
  • Seed pages show how many branches were finished, and an updated date if the seed was changed after publishing.
  • Most played now sorts by turns played instead of number of branches.
  • Under a turn, only one of Edit, Add a picture, Tracker and Stats is open at a time.
  • Fields you still need to fill in are marked in orange in light mode.
  • This page.

Covers, pictures and a tidier seed page

  • Share a link to a seed or branch and the cover picture shows up in the preview.
  • You can give a seed or a branch its own cover. Upload one or get one drawn for credits.
  • All the pictures you generate for a turn are kept now. Pick the one you want to show.
  • Seeds can have up to three characters to play as, and there is a Create your own option on every seed.
  • You can edit the suggested first moves on your own seeds.
  • The tracker has a notes box. Whatever you write there, the writer keeps in mind for the rest of the story.
  • Every turn has a Stats button that shows what it cost and what was sent to the writer.
  • The seed editor and the publish page show a preview next to the form while you type.
  • My seeds and My branches are lists now instead of cards, so more fits on the screen.
  • The seed page shows who liked it.
  • The page no longer jumps around while a turn is coming in.
  • The writer only suggests ending the story when it is actually close to the end.

Costs and small fixes

  • Turn costs are shown in dollars as well as credits.
  • When you run out of credits you get two options: buy more, or publish a seed and earn some.
  • You pick the point of view before the seed is written, not after.
  • Required fields are highlighted so you can see what is missing before you hit save.
  • A seed's branch count only goes up once someone actually plays a turn.
  • Bigger buttons and text on phones.

Everbranch is live

  • Play a story turn by turn until it ends, then publish it for anyone to read for free.
