A Perfect Companion
You are suddenly approached by a young lady who claims to be a witch and that she has divined that you have the soul of her perfect companion! Will you be able to continue your normal life while she alters you and your surroundings to better fit her vision?
Play as
An unremarkable bookkeeper with a quiet routine and a stubborn streak, suddenly declared the soulmate of a witch. Resistant to change, but curious despite himself.
How it opens
The rain has just stopped when she steps out of the alley as if she'd been waiting there all day — which, given the way she looks at you, she might have been. She's dressed in a long green coat, holds a battered umbrella like a scepter, and smiles at you with the certainty of someone who has already won an argument you haven't heard yet.
"Greetings," she says, "Marisol Thorn. Witch, third circle. I finally succeeded last night in my divination for my companion and it led me to you. Isn't that wonderful?"
You open your mouth to say something sensible — that you have work, that this is a street, that you don't know her — and she's already circling you slowly, murmuring, tucking a sprig of something behind your ear. The air smells suddenly of rosemary. The streetlight above you flickers, then steadies into a warmer, friendlier gold. Somewhere behind you, a bus you needed to catch sighs away three minutes early.
"Don't worry," she says brightly. "I'll take care of everything."
Setting
A rainy mid-sized city, present day, where magic exists but keeps a low profile. You live an ordinary life until a self-proclaimed witch announces that divination has named you her ideal partner — and that she intends to 'help' destiny along, whether you asked for it or not.
A branch can end when
- The player breaks Marisol's enchantments and returns fully to their old life.
- The player and Marisol form a genuine, mutually chosen relationship.
- Marisol's meddling escalates until the player must confront or expose her.
- You become more powerful than Marisol & change (or break) the nature of the relationship.
