Turn 34 of 226

I maintain this workout routine. 12 days intense workout, 2 days rest. Both my body and work improve by leaps and bounds. I weigh myself at the end of the 2 day rest period. I am at 180 now and everything is bigger again. I am still 6'6", unwashed, and unshaven, with yellow teeth now too

Two weeks pass like a tide. Lena trains and works and eats and sleeps and the days fold into each other the way days fold when the body has found its rhythm and the mind has agreed to the rhythm and there is no friction left between intention and action. Twelve days on the bag, two days off, and the cycle becomes a structure her body understands the way it understands breathing. The corrections from the first session multiply. The shin adapts — she feels it happening, the bone density increasing night by night, the impacts that made her stop and wince in the first week becoming impacts she walks through in the second. Her knuckles harden. The skin over the metacarpals thickens into a callus that is not pretty but is functional, and the joints beneath it stop aching after day four because the tendons have learned to track the force correctly. The bag tells her the truth every night and she listens and the truth makes her better.

The work improves in parallel. Marcus sends a one-line reply to the pricing model — "Good catch on Section 4" — and the vendor markup gets renegotiated and the renegotiation saves the company eleven thousand dollars a quarter and Lena's name is on the audit that flagged it. She produces three more deliverables in the two-week span: a process redesign for the vendor intake workflow, a compliance checklist that consolidates four existing documents into one, and a quarterly forecast model that Marcus forwards to his director without changes. She is naked at her desk for every one of them. The security guard stopped looking up after the third day. The hallway stopped slowing down after the fifth. Her nakedness has become a feature of the building the way the vending machine is a feature of the building — present, unremarked, part of the landscape.

The two rest days arrive and Lena lies on the floor and does not move and the stillness is as productive as the motion. Her body swells beneath her. She can feel it happening — the muscles that she tore down for twelve nights rebuilding themselves thicker and denser, the fat layer above them thickening too, feeding off the five meals a day she continues to order, and the warmth pulses low and steady through both days and does not say more. It says build. On the second morning she wakes and the floor feels different beneath her. Her ass is wider. She can feel the extra padding when she shifts onto her side — the flesh of her hips pressing into the carpet, the weight of her thighs settling heavier. Her breasts have grown again and she feels them when she rolls onto her stomach, the pressure of her body on them, the way they spread beneath her. Everything is bigger.

She stands on the scale on the evening of the second rest day and the number is 180. The bathroom mirror is filthy — she has not cleaned it since the wish, has not cleaned anything, and the glass is clouded with a film of grime and dried toothpaste splatter and she can see herself through it the way you see something underwater. The body in the mirror is not the body that made the wish. Her breasts are full and heavy and they hang with a weight that changes her posture, pulling her shoulders forward when she relaxes, and the belly is round and soft and sits on her thighs when she stands. Her thighs are enormous — the muscle from the squats and the kicks visible beneath a layer of fat that is thick enough to smooth every line, and the hair on them is dark and dense and unchecked. Her underarms are full. The hair between her legs is a thicket. Her teeth are yellow in the mirror and she opens her mouth and looks at them and the yellow is deep and layered and she cannot remember the last time she brushed and she does not care. She is 180 pounds at six-six and she is unwashed and unshaven and her teeth are yellow and her knuckles are calloused and the bag is in the next room waiting for tomorrow and the warmth pulses and the word is still good. It is still good.
