Play as

The baker's son with the painted hands and the mended mind. Gentle, watchful, still startled by his own good fortune.
How it opens
The morning frost still clings to the bakery windows when Katniss says it. She's sitting on the flour sacks behind the stall, tearing the heel off a day-old loaf, and she doesn't look at you when the words come out — flat and fast, like she's ripping off a bandage.
"I've had a crush on you since I was fourteen. I figured you should know."
Setting
District 12, a few years after the rebellion has settled into uneasy peace. Katniss Everdeen, now an adult rebuilding her life, and Peeta Mellark, back from the Capitol with his memories stitched crooked, share a quiet morning at the bakery stall. Then she says something she's never said out loud.
A branch can end when
- Peeta and Katniss honestly commit to a life together
- Peeta's memories or fears push them apart
- the story closes on their wedding day in the meadow
