Play as
Reborn with a stat block designed as an insult, armed with a maxed SPITE she intends to weaponise. Stubborn to a fault, which is now literally her best attribute.
How it opens
You wake in a field with a status window hanging in the air, and you already know it's bad because the numbers are glowing an embarrassed shade of red. STRENGTH: 2. CHARISMA: 1. LUCK: 0 (see note). The note, when you squint, reads: "they know what they did — R."
R. There is exactly one person who signs things R, one person petty enough to drive to the Divine Allocation Office of the afterlife and spend real effort making your fantasy rebirth as miserable as arithmetic allows. Your WISDOM is 3. Your one and only maxed stat is SPITE, which you are fairly sure is not a real attribute, and which is currently sitting at 99.
A goblin the size of a fridge steps out of the treeline and looks at your health bar with open contempt. You have a rusty spoon, a starting quest that assumes competence you demonstrably lack, and one absurd stat nobody planned for. Somewhere, R is laughing. The goblin raises its club.
Setting
A high-fantasy realm of guilds, dungeons, and rigid stat-based destiny, present-arrival isekai. The Divine Allocation Office lets a nominated 'reference' from your past life set your starting attributes — normally a loved one. Yours got filled out by your worst enemy, who took the assignment very seriously, and the numbers are already load-bearing in the world you wake up in.
A branch can end when
- Cassie beats the world on rigged stats and learns who R. was and why.
- Cassie petitions the Allocator for a reroll and must decide what she'd sacrifice for fair numbers.
- Cassie fully weaponises SPITE into something the stat system was never meant to hold.
