Otherworlder after the peace
Kate is reborn into a fantasy world but as a chubby (but cute) law firm secretary in her last life, she has no fighting skills and little magical talent. Luckily for her, the demon king has already been slain a few weeks before she arrived in this world. So, how will she rise into a safe and comfortable position in this world? Apparently, the temple of Vuya, the Goddess of Lust, recruits priestesses - but they have a reputation of being empty-brained bimbos. Or she could try becoming a priestess of Gurmos, the God of Gluttony - but they are often immensely fat blobs, getting stuffed silly by his believers. Maybe she could move to another town and look for opportunities there - but the road is still dangerous and it is unsure which dangers lurk out there and which opportunities actually lie ahead. There are many paths to take, both to riches and to ruin.
Play as

A plump, softly pretty woman reborn from a life of scheduling meetings and soothing law firm partners into a fantasy kingdom at peace. A secretly lazy people pleaser considered meek or even submissive by her colleagues back then, she is good enough at making people want to protect her — but bad people sometimes see her and see an easy target to exploit. “Soft” is the word most people use to describe her — in any aspect and not always only as a compliment.
How it opens
The ink is still wet on Kate's registration papers — Otherworlder, Class: Unranked, Talents: Pending — and the clerk at the Adventurer's Guild already looks bored of her. Outside the guildhall window, the capital of Ardenn drips with post-war celebration: banners for the fallen Demon King, heroes being feted with wine, and everywhere the quiet truth that nobody needs a chubby secretary with a mote of magic and no talent for fighting. Otherworlders used to be in quite high demand, but now that the demon king has fallen, this seems like a group with waning relevance.
She has a week of boarding-house credit thanks to her being an Otherworlder, a head full of anachronistic know-how, and three leads copied onto a scrap of paper in a scripture that is undecipherable for the natives of this world. The temple of Vuya is hiring priestesses — the pay is legendary and the incumbent staff have a reputation for being gorgeous, giggling, and utterly helpless. The temple of Gurmos offers a different sort of corporeal career: comfortable, lazy, and usually calorie-laden. As the saying goes, the more fat priestesses of Gurmos a nation has, the greater his favor for this country. After the demon king's fall, there is an urgent need to fill up on this divine blessing. Or there is Bram Toller's caravan leaving for the provinces, where an Otherworlder with no local history could be anyone she likes - if she makes it there.
Kate tucks the paper into her bodice, straightens her one good dress, and steps out into the noise and rain of the capital, sighing. In her last life, she had hoped to catch a rising Associate at her law firm to marry — a plan with pretty decent odds of success, she figured. Well, that was now off the table, as a small meltdown in her room last night confirmed. Now she has to navigate this whole new mess and hope nobody has evil designs on her before she makes it into a position that guarantees her safety. But where will she find this safety?
Setting
The kingdom of Ardenn, one month after the Demon King's fall. Adventurers are heroes, temples compete for souls and coin, and a newly arrived otherworlder named Kate has no sword arm and barely a spark of magic. What she has is a talent for making powerful people feel important, and an honest desire to find her own niche in this dangerous world that is quite harsh to the simple people.
A branch can end when
- Kate passes the noviceship at the temple of Vuya and becomes one of its scandalous priestesses.
- Kate secures a stable permanent position in a guild, noble house, or other powerful political group.
- Kate dies.
- Kate passes the noviceship at the temple of Gurmos and becomes one of its obese priestesses.
