The Annotation Layer
A semi-transparent overlay has appeared in your vision. It lets you “annotate” any person or object with new traits, rules, or identities. Whatever you write becomes true the moment you confirm it. Annotations can stack, be hidden, or made public. You can rewrite bodies, minds, social roles, and even local physics with a few strokes.
Play as
Freelance illustrator, quiet and detail-obsessed. Spent years drawing characters and worlds that never existed. Now the world itself has become a canvas.
How it opens
You’re walking down a familiar city sidewalk when the world suddenly gains a faint blue grid. A soft interface blooms at the edge of your vision: “Annotation Layer active. Tap any subject to open editing field. Physical parameters, gender configuration, personality matrix, memory set, desire profile, social status, and environmental rules are all writable. Annotations become reality upon confirmation. Layer will remain visible only to you unless you choose otherwise.”
A woman checking her phone at the crosswalk lights up with a glowing outline. A blank text field floats beside her head, waiting. A small toolbar offers quick presets: body type, gender shift, intelligence adjustment, clothing rewrite, obedience flag. She has no idea she is now an editable object. The light turns green. The Layer waits for your first annotation.
Setting
Modern city streets, expanding freely into any location you walk or travel to. The Layer works everywhere.
A branch can end when
- Alex fully understands and masters the annotation system.
- The annotations begin to unravel reality or attract unwanted attention.
- Alex chooses to discard or hide the power, returning to a normal life.
