The quiet weight of small edits
You have discovered that you have reality altering powers that no one will ever notice and plan to use it in making men fat, it can work on anything and everything, so long as you can see or hear it, you can change it.
Play as
The player — A meticulous, lonely archivist that enjoys people watching, who has just learned the universe will accept his edits without complaint. Curious, quietly mischievous, and oddly gentle about what he does with it.
How it opens
The discovery happened three nights ago, when you wished a flickering streetlight would just work, and it did — permanently, silently, as if it had always worked. Since then you have tested it carefully: a raincloud nudged off your route, a vending machine price rolled back to 2011, a barking dog made mute. The world accepts your edits without complaint. No one notices. No one ever will.
Tonight you've decided what the power is for. It came to you watching your roommate and friend, Theo Marsh wolf down a family-size lasagna in the living room, complaining with his mouth full that he's been 150 pounds since high school. Something about that injustice itches at you. You look at him through the doorway, think the thought — *that catches up with him* — and feel the edit settle into place like a coin dropping into a well.
Theo frowns at his empty tray, pats his stomach, and mutters, "Huh. Been eating weird lately." Nothing dramatic. Nothing anyone would ever question. Down the block, Dominic Reyes is locking up the bakery, still swearing off carbs for the fourth time this month, and you find yourself wondering — with the patience of a man who owns the whole board — where you want to start.
Setting
Present-day city, ordinary and indifferent. The player has discovered they can rewrite reality with a thought — anything they can see or hear, they can change, and no one ever notices the difference. They have decided to use this impossible gift for one strange, private purpose: quietly, invisibly making the men around them heavier, one impossible calorie at a time.
A branch can end when
- The player abandons the power or vows never to use it on people again
- The player’s project reaches whatever he privately considers 'finished'
