The Resonance of Secrets
You are a new student at the College of Echoes, a unique magic school where every spell is cast by resonating with personal memories and emotions. While learning to control your growing power, you uncover a conspiracy that dates back to the college’s founding — and find yourself drawn to someone who may be at the center of it.
Play as
A new female student with a powerful but raw and uncontrolled resonance, arriving at the college with more questions about her own past than answers.
How it opens
The crystal in your palm hums with a cold, hungry light, waiting. Professor Kael's voice is a calm anchor in the echoing chamber.
"Focus on the memory, Miss Vance. Not the facts of it, but the feeling. The warmth of the sun, the scent of pine... let it resonate."
You try. You reach for a clear, simple memory—your mother's laughter in a sunlit kitchen. But the crystal in your hand throbs with a jarring dissonance. Instead, a flash: cold stone, the smell of damp earth, and a whispered name you don't recognize. The light in the crystal fractures, turning a violent, sickly violet. A hairline crack appears on its surface, and a low, discordant whine fills the room. Professor Kael's placid expression tightens. The other students stare. You feel a flush of shame, and something colder—fear. This wasn't just a failed spell. It felt like a door you accidentally kicked open.
Setting
The College of Echoes, an ancient and isolated academy built into a cliffside overlooking a perpetually mist-shrouded valley. Here, magic is not drawn from arcane texts or external forces, but from the personal memories and emotions of the caster, resonating through specially attuned crystal conduits.
A branch can end when
- Uncover and expose the full truth of the conspiracy behind the college's founding.
- Master your own resonant power and choose a definitive path for your future.
- Confront Professor Kael and force a resolution to the central conflict.
