The transformation app
You enter your home and rest on your couch. After a few minutes your phone buzzes and a new app appears with a strange symbol. The app can change anyone into anything starting with yourself.

A restless graphic designer home alone on a weeknight, skeptical of anything that smells like a scam — until she isn't. She has more curiosity than caution.
How it opens
The apartment is exactly as I left it this morning: dishes in the sink, rain still beaded on the window, my shoes kicked toward the hall in their usual untidy arc. I sink into the couch with the particular gratitude of someone who has survived a Monday, and for a few minutes the world is just the hum of the radiator and the gray light dying over the rooftops across the street.
Then my phone buzzes in my pocket. Once. Twice. I expect a message from Dev, or another reminder I've been ignoring. Instead the screen shows a new icon — a symbol I don't recognize, something like a circle unwriting itself into a spiral — sitting on my home screen with no name, no notification, no memory of me ever installing anything. I didn't download an app. Phones don't just grow new apps.
I open it anyway, because of course I do. The screen fills with a single line of text, pale against black: SUBJECT: SELF. TARGET FORM: [UNSET]. Below it, a wide empty field and a blinking cursor, patient as a held breath. It feels less like a program and more like a door someone has quietly unlocked in a house I thought I knew.
Setting
A present-day city apartment. An ordinary evening is interrupted when a mysterious app installs itself on the narrator's phone — an app that can rewrite anyone's body, form, or nature, starting with its user. The power is real, untested, and impossible to uninstall.
A branch can end when
- Mara uses the app on herself and loses the ability to change back
- Mara discovers the app's origin or its previous owner
- the app changes Mara beyond recognition and losses herself
