You wake up with a sleek black earpiece that lets you overwrite any person’s core identity traits in real time. Speak a new “echo” (personality, gender, body type, memories, social role, fetishes, intelligence, etc.) and the world rewrites itself around them. The more you use it, the more the device starts suggesting darker or more extreme echoes on its own.
Play as
Recent college dropout, chronically online, previously powerless and invisible. Quietly bitter about being overlooked. The earpiece is the first time anything has ever gone their way.
How it opens
You’re standing in the long afternoon line of a busy downtown coffee shop, half-scrolling your phone out of boredom, when a soft chime sounds directly in your right ear. A smooth black earpiece you don’t remember putting on has activated. A calm synthetic voice speaks:
“Echo Chamber online. Target locked: barista, mid-twenties, current echo — overworked college student, mild irritation, baseline human female. Editable fields available: physical template, gender matrix, personality core, memory set, social status, desire profile, intelligence level, and more. Suggest new echo or issue verbal command.”
A translucent interface flickers across your vision, listing every trait of the woman currently taking orders. She has no idea anything has changed. The line moves forward. Your turn is coming. The earpiece waits, patient and hungry for its first rewrite.
Setting
Modern-day mid-sized city (your choice of starting neighborhood: campus area, downtown, suburbs, or nightlife district). Fully open world.
A branch can end when
- The story ends when you either fully rewrite the city’s social hierarchy into a stable new order and the earpiece declares “Echo Network stabilized,” or when the device begins rewriting you against your will and you choose to accept or resist the final echo.
