Spells R Us: Midnight Fit
It is Halloween night and Jess, a smart and reserved college student, has a problem. Her carefully planned Ruth Bader Ginsburg costume was ruined in the laundry, leaving her with nothing to wear to the big party. Ethan, the outgoing jock who has quietly liked her for months, offers to help and heads out alone to find a last-minute replacement. He ends up in Spells R Us, a strange little costume shop that always seems to appear when someone needs it most. Not really understanding the difference between “sexy” and “trashy,” Ethan grabs the most revealing stripper-style outfit he can find, thinking it will make Jess the star of the party. The old shopkeeper warns him that the costume is enchanted: if it is not removed before midnight, the wearer will slowly become the living stereotype of whatever the outfit represents both in body and in mind. Ethan laughs it off, assuming the old man is just playing his Halloween role.Jess is horrified when she sees the costume, but with no time left and Ethan looking so proud of himself, she reluctantly puts it on. As the two of them leave for the party, the clock is already ticking toward midnight.
Play as

A smart and slightly awkward college junior who prefers libraries and quiet nights over parties. She has a natural, understated beauty she usually downplays with simple clothes and minimal makeup. Thoughtful, a little anxious, and not used to being the center of attention, she agreed to the trashy costume only because she felt she had no other option. Underneath her discomfort she is stronger than she looks, but the enchanted outfit is already starting to test that strength.
How it opens
The cheap plastic bag crinkles in Ethan’s hand as the two of you stand in the hallway outside Jess’s apartment. Inside the bag is the only costume the strange little shop had left that looked “fun.”
Jess holds up the outfit between two fingers like it might bite her. It is all shiny pink plastic, tiny straps, a microscopic skirt, and platform heels that look like they belong on a stage. Her face is a mixture of disbelief and dread.
“You… got me this?” she asks. Ethan grins, completely missing the tone dual.
“Yeah. You’re going to look amazing. Trust me, everyone at the party is going to lose their minds."
Jess glances at the clock. There is no time to find anything else. With a long, unhappy sigh she disappears into her room. A few minutes later she steps back out, arms crossed tightly over her chest, cheeks burning. The outfit clings to her in all the wrong ways and leaves almost nothing to the imagination. She looks extremely uncomfortable, shifting her weight from one towering heel to the other.
Ethan looks her up and down and lets out a low, impressed whistle. “Damn. You look incredible.
”Jess forces a tight smile that does not reach her eyes. Outside, the night is waiting, and midnight is closer than either of you realizes.

A branch can end when
