The costume party
A young man finds a mysterious online store selling “guaranteed authentic” Halloween costumes the night before a big party. Once he chooses a costume and puts it on, the magic bound into the fabric begins rewriting his body and mind to perfectly match the character permanently. The more he wears it, the deeper the transformation goes.
Play as
Last-minute party-goer who always leaves costume shopping until the final hour. Competitive enough to want the “best” look, and completely unprepared for what “authentic” actually means.
How it opens
It’s 11:48 p.m. the night before the party and you still don’t have a costume. Scrolling in desperation, you find a sleek black website that simply says: “Final Hour Costumes – One perfect look. No returns.”
Five options glow on the screen, each with a short description:
Sexy Witch – Tiny black dress, striped stockings, pointed hat. “Guaranteed to cast a spell on everyone… including the wearer.”
Bunny Girl – Classic playboy-style leotard, fishnets, bow tie and ears. “Hop straight into the role.”
Schoolgirl – Short plaid skirt, white blouse, loose tie and knee-socks. “Everyone’s favorite guilty pleasure.”
Catwoman – Shiny black catsuit, ears, and whip. “Sleek, dangerous, and very flexible.”
Cheerleader – Tiny cropped top, pleated skirt, and pom-poms. “Spirit so strong it rewrites you.”
A soft warning at the bottom reads: “Once selected and worn, the costume claims its owner. Choose carefully.”
Your cursor hovers. The party starts in less than an hour. You have to pick one.
Setting
Modern city apartment the night before Halloween, then the crowded costume party and the streets afterward. The chosen costume continues working as long as it is worn (and even after it is removed).
A branch can end when
- Leo's transformation into the Foxfire Trickster is complete, and his old identity is fully overwritten.
- Leo manages to remove the costume before the transformation becomes irreversible, but is forever changed.
- The source of the shop's magic is uncovered, offering a possible choice or reversal.
